The Business
Phillip Veliz, Jr. started Saint Paul Media in December 2003. He has lived in California for 44 years. Phil has been developing web sites for over 6 years. What started out as a hobby-interest has turned into a great, full-fledged business. In this past month alone, Phil has developed or upgraded over 5 web sites. We've been up late, studying. . .
We admit it! At the heart of Saint Paul Media's Website Services is the sensibility of an internet critic. We flat-out like what we do, and really enjoy learning all the latest processes and figuring out a 'better way' to do things.

For the last 5+ years, the principal has been analyzing and deconstructing websites, designing and building websites, studying ezines, online advertisements, and even unsolicited emails, figuring out what went wrong (or right) and why:

"The left navigation was confusing." "The home page was cluttered." "They were doing great until right HERE." "Their design ideas are overwhelming the intended message." That sort of thing.

'We'd rather write something honest'
Coming from a background in sales psychology, technical writing and commercial writing, but looking for something beyond that, it seemed natural to find ourselves working intently, and intensely, on the Web. A website is theater. It's about marketing and branding.

And, there's some psychology mixed in. What motivates? How does one convey subtle meaning? A background in writing copy for the web is eminently applicable: 'use the active voice', 'know your audience', 'don't mix metaphors' — and we strive to convey ideas in the most honest manner possible!
